A wonderful solidus of lovely Germanic style

UNCERTAIN GERMANIC TRIBES, Pseudo-Imperial coinage. Circa mid to late 5th century. Solidus (Gold, 22 mm, 4.47 g, 7 h), imitating Marcian (450-457), uncertain mint, after 450. D N NΛRCINVS P F AVG Pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Marcian facing, his head turned slightly to right, holding spear in his right hand and with a shield, decorated with a horseman spearing a fallen foe, over his left shoulder. Rev. VICTORI-A AVGGG A / CONOB Victory standing front, head to left, holding long jeweled cross in her right hand; in field to right, star. Cf. Depeyrot 87/1 and RIC 51 (for the prototype). A wonderful piece of lovely Germanic style misspelling the emperor's name as 'Narcinus'. Light scrapes, otherwise, good extremely fine.
